CCE announced that in response to a growing demand from customers in the CAE space, it has successfully completed porting of its 3D CAD interoperability technology to Linux platforms. Currently, the libraries for Red Hat and SUSE Linux platforms are being distributed to internal teams and general availability is slated for July 1, 2013.
“Over the years, we have noticed rapid proliferation of Linux in a wide base of engineering software, especially in CAE,” said CCE’s V.P. of Sales & Marketing Vinay Wagle. “With the expansion of our technology to support Linux platforms, we offer a complete portfolio of the industry’s most extensive 3D CAD read and write interoperability technology, and address a direct need of the CAE software market.”

CCE is the only independent interop provider in the world that produces robust libraries for developing comprehensive native bi-directional 3D data translation capability. The technology can be used for enhancing the ability of an application to read and write multiple 3D CAD formats, across different platforms, thereby expanding the reach to a wider customer base.

“Coming shortly on the heels of our recent Mac OS support, the support for Linux platforms proves our constant commitment to invest in technology to meet our customers’ evolving needs,” said Wagle.

File formats currently supported by CCE’s interoperability technology includes CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, NX, SolidWorks, Pro/E (Creo), JT, Solid Edge, Parasolid, IGES, STEP and 3D PDF. Applications developed using CCE’s technology is independent of any form of CAD software or licensing. Operating systems supported include Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
